This is a plugin for the Gnome Music Player Client to browse and play SHOUTcast stations.

  1. You’ll need to clone the gmpc-shoutcastbrowser repository by doing: git clone git://gitorious.org/gmpc-shoutcastbrowser/gmpc-shoutcastbrowser.git. After that, clone the main gmpc repo: git clone git://git.musicpd.org/master/gmpc.git. After that clone the libmpd repo: git clone git://git.musicpd.org/master/libmpd.git. First build the libmpd repo by entering its source directory after cloning. Then do: ./autogen && ./configure && make install. Do the same commands for gmpc and gmpc-shoutcastbrowser directories, in that order. Once everything is installed start gmpc and you should see a SHOUTcast item. Right-click on it to refresh/initialize the genres. Its kinda buggy in that the station columns arent setup correctly most of the time until you either right-click in the station window then select “Edit Columns” and/or edit the ~/.config/gmpc/gmpc.cfg file to specifiy the columns shown and their sizes.

Let me know if you need more help.

  2. I don’t know if this is still active. But i need help being able to compile this plugin and the gmpc-coveramazon plugin for gmpc. I have scoured the web, but cannot find explicit instructions for compiling/building/installing plugins that are not pre made packages.

    I would greatly appreciate your help ! I am a bit of a newbie in Linux…!! 🙂
